What to expect
All our medical assessments are conducted in our professional medical suites, by an expert and experienced medical specialist. Appointments generally run for 45 minutes to an hour, and depending on your injury or illness and may involve a physical examination as well as a thorough interview.
If you are undertaking a physical examination, our medical specialists will conduct a detailed assessment of the injured area of your body, as well as a more generalised examination of your overall health.
This may require you to partially undress for the duration of the examination. All of our medical specialists are experienced professionals who conduct examinations with integrity and discretion, and gowns and screens are available for your use.
Should you wish to bring a support person to the assessment you are free to do so. Alternatively one of our team can sit in on the assessment with you.
During the assessment interview, you will be asked questions about your medical issues, including when and how they began, and details of their progression. Questions will also be asked about medical tests and treatments you have undertaken in the past.
Additionally, you may need to answer questions about your personal, social and recreational life. These enable your specialist to fully understand your situation and how your injury could be affecting your life.
Remember – the specialist is not able to provide advice or guidance regarding your medical condition or treatment, and is under an ethical obligation not to intervene in your case. If you want information regarding your condition, we recommend you seek advice from your treating doctor(s) or other health care practitioners.
